With the intention of raising funds for the Ebale project, yesterday FERT Batxillerat (supported by the Montblanc Foundation) organised a charity dinner at the Hotel Plaza in Barcelona, which more than 250 people attended.
Everyone took part in this event, where a series of public presentations was held. Gemma Mir, the head teacher at FERT Batxillerat, was the first presenter of the evening. She spoke about the solidarity training that young people receive on the Foundation’s Mou Fixta Programme, which her students have collaborated on. Following this, Julia Prats gave a short presentation about the Montblanc Foundation, of which she is president. She detailed the countries and projects the Foundation works on, placing particular emphasis on those in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Louise Lalou, a Congolese doctor living in Barcelona, also participated. She spoke of the need to help poor countries develop and explained that it was only thanks to a young Belgian woman her age that she was able to study medicine. Finally, bringing the night to a close, a group of pupils demonstrated the reality of this African country and explained the Ebale project, finishing off by citing Article 1 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. ”All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights. They are endowed with reason and conscience and should act towards one another in a spirit of brotherhood.”
