Dr. Celine Tendobi, director of the Gynecology Department at Monkole Hospital, and Álvaro Perlado, Deputy Director of the same hospital, went to Spain to publicise the Ebale-Monkole Project and the conditions of maternity in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
They visited Pamplona on Thursday, December 1st, Madrid on Friday the 2nd, and Barcelona on Monday the 5th and were accompanied at all visits by Mayte Ordovás, Álvaro's wife and head of the Pharmaceutical Department at Monkole Hospital.
The first session was organized by the Department of Gynaecology and Obstetrics at the University Hospital of Navarra and took place at the Science Building at the University. The next day, a charitable cocktail party was held at the Bar Las Bridas in Madrid thanks to the collaboration of the Association of Friends of Monkole and the Valley Foundation. Then at 10am in Barcelona, they spoke to nearly 200 students of FERT Batxillerat at the Great Hall of the International University of Catalonia; at noon they were at the Colegio Pineda before the students of high school; finally, they finished their "tour" at 2:30pm with a meal and discussion with 25 guests at the Montblanc Foundation. In the evening a meeting was held with Mou Fitxa de Igualada program volunteers.
