HHRR in Congo

Location: Kinshasa (DR Congo).

Project: Strengthening university women in the University Environment of Kinshasa.

Objective: This project is supported by the Barcelona Bar Association. It will contribute to the promotion and protection of human rights - especially the rights of women - in the Democratic Republic of the Congo through training and direct participation of Congolese universities.

Counterpart: Dd & f. CECFOR.

Beneficiaries: 425 university students and 750 bachelors.

Key issues: Poverty eradication; The promotion of gender equity; The guarantee of environmental sustainability; The defense of human rights; Democratization and respect for cultural identity; Capacity building and community organization.

The program includes the dissemination of a deeper knowledge of human rights in the university environment, the promotion of concrete questions of action on the part of the students and the support necessary to put them into practice.

The ultimate goal is to create a more friendly climate on university campuses and to prepare future leaders of the country as active agents to protect these rights.
