International Human Solidarity Day

International Human Solidarity Day was proclaimed as such by the General Assembly of the United Nations to involve all countries in uniting in the task of creating together a more prosperous and secure future for all.

The theme for 2012 is: Global Alliance for encouraging the prosperity of solidarity.

In effect, the globalized world is interconnected in that we experience numerous opportunities in the fight against illnesses, and benefit from numerous technologies and the progressive decrease in socio-economic inequalities.  But no country is capable of so reaching these objectives on its own.  Uniquely we can attain success if we are in a position to contribute to a common cause.  Solidarity must be the basis for global solutions.

With that in mind, in his message for this year the Secretary General of the United Nations is appealing to all citizens of the world, so that we may contribute to promoting solidarity in the global family we are part of and to reaching our common objectives.
