Throughout the world, the International Women's Day is being celebrated, which this year has as a slogan: “A promise is a promise. It's time to act in stopping violence against women”.
The Director General of UNESCO Irina Bokova acknowledges in her message that there have been many advances in the promotion of the rights of women and applauds “the many heroines, girls and women, who are making history in societies around the world”. At the same time, she indicates that it is correct to examine with objectivity where we find ourselves and put more effort into eliminating violent situations or marginalisation which many women around the world encounter, “starting with the UNESCO priorities of education, science, culture, communication and information, including methods of broadcasting.
In the countries where Foundation Montblanc works, the main problem that women experience is marginalisation, enormous difficulties that women and girls encounter in accessing education and good work conditions. With the projects being carried out, it is intended that this situation will be relieved through training that allows them to escape marginalisation and live a dignified life.
