This week Pascaline Mbaku, an engineer of Congolese origin, who works in grass roots services in the social antenna Moluka, in Kinshasha (Congo), visited Barcelona.
Enjoying her short stay, Pascaline visited the colleges La Vall (Bellaterra) and Monctlar (Igualada) to express her gratitude for the assistance sent by them with the goal of collaborating in sustaining the project.
A social antenna is a small dispensary that, in addition to offering medical care, works to promote women, who are truly vulnerable in that country. It welcomes mainly young people between 14 and 18 years of age, who due to their situation of extreme poverty, have not had an opportunity to learn to read or write. At the same time they train them in a manual activity which allows them to access a job which improves their economic situation: hairdressing, dressmaking; and teaches them hygiene habits, nutrition and childcare so that they can better attend to their families.
