The Maresme i la Selva's Health Corporation donated computer systems, monitors and printers to the Barranquer Foundation a non-profit organization that aims to provide ophthalmological assistance in order to contribute in the improvement of eye care for communities with no access to healthcare.
Further, the Foundation promises to redistribute this material to the African Sunrise Foundation, Anna Ribot Foundation, and the Montblanc Promotion of Women Foundation. The material includes 12 monitors, 8 laptops, 8 desktop computers, 11 laser printers, 4 ink-jet printers, 3 scanners, and 1 multifunction printer.
The Corporation donated this material not because they stopped using it, nor because it is defective, but because our daily tasks with out institution’s new applications require an optimal level of equipment. The increasing importance of information systems in healthcare settings requires a technological renewal in organizations such as the Maresme i la Selva's Health Corporation. This Corporation should have a more superior pace than the complete obsolence of some equipment. Thus, computer equipment that do not meet the needs of the professionals of the Corporation can still have a useful life in other organizations or settings.
